Volunteer Opportunities
Please read below for a list of current volunteer opportunities with BBNC. We welcome all applicants to submit a completed Volunteer Application Form online. Be advised that police checks will be a necessary step before starting.
Responsibilities: After attending an initial, mandatory training, volunteers will act as representatives of BBNc at a monthly bingo session held at Dolphin Bingo (Warden and Eglinton). Volunteers will act as greeters, clear off tables, and promote of work of BBNC in the community. The time commitment is 2.5 hours per month. New volunteers are accepted regularly.

Join us for some fun and laughter as BBNC partners with RAGNAR RELAY SERIES!
The BBNC location is being used as a Minor Exchange location for a 200-mile running relay from Cobourg to Niagara Falls. We are looking for 4 – 6 volunteers to assist with announcing runners, recording runner interval times and managing the flow of traffic in and out of the exchange. RAGNAR RELAY will make a donation to BBNC for participation in this event.
BBNC is looking for individuals with a demonstrated committment to the vision and mission of Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre to serve as Board members in the governance of the organization.
- Key requirements include:
- Knowledge of effective governance practices
- Experience and/or interest in community benefit
- Skills and experience in Business Law/Non-profit Law;
Computer/IT/Web/Information Management;
Early Learning & Parenting;
Community Development/Engagement
Time Required: Monday through Friday, 10:00am – 4pm
Responsibilities: Support BBNC’s fundraising activities by picking up and delivering a wide variety of donations from local schools, community groups and businesses. Delivery may be of donations to BBNC and or to other organizations in the community. Deliveries with a partner volunteer, may also be made to SHARE365 participants during the month of December. BBNC is also exploring the opportunity to ensure isolated seniors have access to programming through transportation support to the centre. Volunteers who are interested in acting as a driver/companion are in great need.
Time Required: Monday to Thursday, 8:45am-11:45am
Responsibilities: Assist with setup inside and outside of classroom, arrange coat rack with name plates, return washed toys to the bins/shelves, clear floor areas of clutter, remind children of safety rules, read to the children in the literacy/numeracy area, prepare activities for children, learn new skills (making playdough, crafts for kids), prepared snacks, help out with book centre, assist teachers with redirecting the children, sweep floor, snack clean up, assist with hand washing.
Skills Required: Good with children, English as a primary language (2nd language is an asset), reliable

Responsibilities: Making playdough crafts for children, lending library, assist staff with set up and clean up, preparing snacks, preparing activities for children, reading to children in literacy/numeracy area, organizing toy bins and shelves.

Volunteers needed provide outreach to our diverse community members and promote BBNC programs. You will be helping to raise community awareness around our healthy living programs and to encourage participation in our health and fitness programs and special events. This position requires some flyer delivery and some social media outreach.
Days Required: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of month and 2 other week days each month
Time: 12pm-3:30
Responsibilities: Support the work of BBNC’s civic programs and resident animators raising their civic voices on poverty, housing and other issues affecting Scarborough. Provide participant supports, perform community outreach, admin tasks and meeting set-up.
