Recreation/Leisure Support Post
Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC) is vibrant, multi service centre serving southwest Scarborough. The Recreation /Leisure Support position provides support and assistance to multiple services within BBNC. The individual must be energetic, enthusiastic, creative, a people person, and motivated to serve the community, as well as comfortable working with a wide range of ages and developmental stages.
Term: Contract, Part-Time, 20 hours per week (occasional evenings & weekends), In-person
Main Duties:
The Recreation/Leisure position will:
Program Support
– support the current programs offered at BBNC, including;
> EarlyON Child & Family Center
> Youth Development Initiatives
> Fitness & Wellness
> Seniors Active Living
> Other Areas as Developed
-Work closely with Staff team/Instructors/Service providers in order to better understand the needs of the community
-Class scheduling/room booking
-Facilities
> Utilizing volunteer supports
> Ensure maintenance of fitness equipment (ensure that all fitness equipment is maintained to ensure the health and safety of instructors and participants)
Member Engagement
-Provide assistance/support for all community members/partners
-Apply administrative and customer service skills to support the delivery of programs, events and services
Communication
-Online Registration System Set-Up and Maintenance (provide weekly review of program registrations for accuracy, completion and updates
-BBNC Program Guide (supporting Social Media/Communication Staff)
-Program Registrations
-Community Interface
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required;
-4+ years of Recreation/Leisure experience
– Ability to develop and maintain exceptional relationships with participants and staff
-Customer service experience is a must
-Excellent problem solving and critical thinking
-Excellent written and verbal communication
-Positive attitude and team mentality
