Active & Able

Active & Able

Active & Able Programs provide inclusive services and programs that advance active living, independence and full inclusion for persons with disabilities. A large percentage of the population we serve face profound widespread barriers to community participation. For many, lack of a living wage is a primary driver of many disadvantages they face. These include poverty, barriers to active living, poor health outcomes, unaffordable housing, and social exclusion.

For over 15 years, the program has offered many accessible and affordable recreational classes serving adults and seniors with disabilities, while providing access to mainstream fitness classes. It has also run social and leadership programs that reduce social barriers, along with information and referral, and advocacy services. Using a community collaboration model, we have also worked with diverse community partners to offer civic engagement projects that advance the equity and voices of people with disabilities.
