For those interested in fitness and wellness programs, a wide array of classes taught by qualified instructors are available. To facilitate choice, a variety of classes are offered in both the daytime and evening, and many are designed to accommodate persons of different physical ability levels. Cardio Classes

Muscle Classes

Dates: Wednesdays (July 6th – Aug 24th), Fridays (July 8th – Aug 26th)
Time: Wednesdays at 10:40am-11:40am, Fridays at 11:00am – 12:00pm
Weeks: 8

A dynamic and fluid combination of strengthening and stretching. Focus on developing lean, strong and flexible muscles. This equipment free program will leave you feeling good, positive and strong from the inside out! Participants must be able to stand for periods of time and will have plenty of chair stretches throughout our class.

Date: Tuesdays (July 5th – Aug 23rd), Fridays (July 8th – Aug 26th)
Time: Tuesdays at 10:15am – 11:15am, Fridays at 10:00am – 11:00am

This class consists of warm up, stretch, floor work, weights (small to medium) and finishing with another stretch. This is a full body workout. If you would like to join the class and you do not have weights, cans of soup will work well.

Beginner to intermediate. Exercising every muscle group at a slower pace with weights and working to stabilize the core muscles.

Using a combination of mat work, resistance bands and other functional tools, we work to strengthen and tone the entire body. Develop and improve core strength, mobility, balance and posture in a fun, easy-going setting. A great class for beginners or as a complement to your other weekly workouts.

This is a gentle weight bearing fitness class designed to increase bone density. This comprehensive exercise program includes weight bearing exercise, strength training, posture training, balance training and stretching. There will be modifications made for those who need it.

Combination Classes

Dates: Thursdays (July 7th – Aug 25th)

This class consists of warm up and stretching, followed by 20-25 minutes of cardio. Ending the class with a long 10-15 minute stretch.

This senior cardio and strength class is 60 minutes. We will start each class with a 5-10 minute warm-up, and then we will circuit through a cardio and strength training routine to challenge those muscles. This fitness class will be taught at a moderate fitness level but lower and higher intensity options are available.

A full body, energetic workout for cardio and strength, using free weights. This one hour class will include a mix of core work, strength and flexibility training. Modifications for all fitness levels.

In this class, we focus on training our entire body to be stronger, leaner, calorie burning machines! In just one hour, we tone up from head to toe with special emphasis on the core. Weights, resistance bands & mat work help to mix up this workout each week for the best results. A fun & challenging workout!

Aqua Fitness Classes

Dates: Tuesdays (July 5th – Aug 23rd), Thursdays (July 7th – Aug 25th) Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm Weeks: 8 Aquafit is a multi-level pool workout that offers both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning using the water’s resistance to tone the entire body. *Older Adult Aquafit is not available in the summer* ***Please note that these are 2 separate classes. This class will improve muscle/joint flexibility, range of motion, strength and balance. This is a gentle yoga-based exercise class. Exercises are done sitting or using the support of the bar in the whirlpool. Class takes place in the hot tub where the water temperature is higher than in the main pool.

WATER FITNESS IS BACK!!! High Intensity Interval Training – brief bursts of dynamic, high intensity moves followed by a recovery period – are a highly effective and advanced form of fitness training. The natural resistance of the water increases the effectiveness of your H.I.I.T. Workout while the buoyancy and cooling benefits of the water allow you to work harder with less stress and impact to your body. Take the plunge for a fun and challenging water workout!

Yoga/ Gentle Movement Classes

Dates: Tuesdays (July 5th – Aug 23rd)

Relieve the stress of a hectic day with gentle yoga exercises, followed by a relaxation period. The instructor will go at a pace to accommodate those new to yoga.

Get the best of both Yoga and Pilates in this class that fuses both disciplines. Pilates compliments yoga by offering dynamic, targeted resistance exercises to strengthen abs, back and other core muscle groups while incorporating controlled stretching and breath awareness. Please bring your own mat.

“You are only as young as your spine is strong and supple” is an ancient yogi saying. This is a flow yoga class that can be done standing or sitting. We will stretch and strengthen our core and back muscles starting at the feet and working our way up the body to the head and neck. This class will help participants relieve back pain, develop best habits for a healthy spine, and feel great! Suitable for all levels and abilities. No mats required!

Qigong (pronounced chi-kung) is a gentle exercise, similar to Tai Chi, but without the martial arts influence. Qigong works as a slow movement, breath, posture and healing exercise. It strengthens the body gently, teaches breathing and promotes a sense of relaxation.

The art of Tai Chi reaches deep inside the body to benefit the entire physiology including the tendons, joints, spine, connective tissue and internal organs. It restores the calmness and peace of mind that is lost from our daily lives.

Dates: Tuesdays (July 5th – Aug 23rd) Time: 11:30am – 12:30pm Weeks: 8 Experience something new and wonderful about your practice every time you come to the mat! One day, we will have music; another day, meditation. We will learn simple breathing exercises, incorporate healing hand postures and explore sounds that raise your energy level. This is for everybody who also enjoys moving and flowing into different postures. All levels welcome!
Dates: Fridays (July 8th – Aug 26th) Time: 11:10am – 12:10pm Weeks: 8 This class is suitable for all, but targeted for absolute beginners and those with limited mobility. Restorative yoga deeply relaxes the body and provides rejuvenation through reclined yoga poses using support, meditation and guided visualization. Benefits: improves capacity for healing and balance; enhances flexibility, physical and mental balance to prevent stress related anxiety; improves sleep.

The goal of this class is to maintain independence and well-being as we age gracefully. Mindfulness, challenging our minds through movement, enjoying ourselves by using rhythm and music, improving coordination and breathing techniques.

NOTE: BBNC strives to ensure that all classes have sufficient participant engagement but it is sometimes necessary to cancel classes due to low registration. Participants will receive a full credit for any classes remaining in the program, or they may transfer to any other class.
